Year 8 Snake Spirals
Heat can be transferred in three different ways; convection, conduction and radiation. An alfoil snake spinning due to the heat rising from a candle helps students visualise convection.
Year 7 - Slime
Year 7s were learning about the states of matter and physical change during the past couple of weeks and they had the opportunity to make slime on Tuesday. They have also been learning how to conduct experiments and record results. This activity allowed the students to compare qualitative results and understand errors that occurred during the process of making slime. - Miss Casey Donaldson
Year 9 Enzymes
Without enzymes no living cell could function, they cause reactions in our body to occur ten thousand times faster! Here Year 9’s are looking at how the concentration of pepsin (a stomach enzyme) affects its rate of action.
Year 9 Forensics - Spectrometers
The study of fibres includes the use of a Spectrophotometer. While you won’t find one of these in any high school science lab, we can use a Spectrometer to help students understand their science.

Year 12 Human Biology Brain Dissection
Dissection of a sheep brain is a great way for students to consolidate their learning on the structure of the brain.
Year 12 General Human Biology – Bodies
The Year 12 General Human Biology class has started the year learning about the coordination of the human body, in particular, the bones, joints, and muscles. Students were able to use the basketball court before the rain set in on Tuesday to label the areas of muscles in the body. They drew two outlines of the body and labelled muscles on the front and back. This is in preparation for their next two assessments in the second half of the term. - Miss Casey Donaldson
