It was particularly interesting to see the work of our schools in the Kimberley.

We have a dozen schools throughout the Kimberley, mostly community schools. The conditions under which the teachers operate can be quite difficult and the attendance of the students is flexible.

I was speaking with an ex-student of mine, who is a Principal of a small school in the Mulan Community, at the age of twenty seven.  As he left Broome in his 4-wheel drive, he had filled it to the roof with supplies, as the school feeds the children during the day to ensure that they are ready for school work. It was marvellous to see his enthusiasm and commitment to his community, both in a social sense and an educational sense.

Sevenhill

I recently completed a silent retreat at the Jesuit Retreat House in Sevenhill, in the Clare Valley in South Australia.

A silent retreat may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I found it an enriching and rewarding spiritual experience. It is amazing how you can slow down in the right setting and reflect upon what is important.

Br Pat Cronin

We have received news that Br Pat Cronin has passed away. Br Pat was a former Principal of CBC Leederville, from 1978 to 1983, just prior to its amalgamation to Aranmore. Br Pat is remembered as an enthusiastic leader with a fine mind and great creativity. May he rest in peace now.

Mr Danny Battistessa
Deputy Principal – Curriculum

In 1986 two great traditions merged; the Christian Bothers and the Mercy Sisters. And Aranmore was born.

We stem from two religious orders, both steeped in a passion for education, especially among the marginalised and poor. This is expressed in the Charism Statements from each Order:

As Sisters of Mercy, we seek to follow Jesus by responding to God’s call to know God’s loving kindness and share it with others.

Deeply aware of the Father’s providential presence in his life, Edmund Rice was moved by the Holy Spirit to open his whole heart to Christ present and appealing to him in the poor.

As we continue to grow as a College, may we forever be reminded of those who paved the path on which we travel.

This award-winning musical tells the remarkable true story of thousands of stranded passengers during the September 11 attacks and the small town in Newfoundland, Canada that welcomed them all.  Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.
