Welcome to the 2022 academic year at Aranmore. We are delighted to welcome new staff members to our English Learning team: Ms Janine Robert and Ms Casey Vinci are both very experienced teachers and join our Aranmore Community this year and are teaching a range of English classes. Ms Annie Dziadulewicz is also new to our college community and, while she has mainly EaL/D classes, we are thrilled that she is a Year 7 Form teacher and working with our Year 7 English team. Mr Frank Egan is well known to many of you as he has been providing engaging teaching and learning experiences for students for many years at Aranmore, most recently in HaSS and Religious Education. We are blessed to have him sharing his expertise with a Year 9 English class. These new staff join existing members of our English Learning Area team: Ms Lesley O’Connor, Mrs Kerry Ponton, Ms Andrea Sorba, Mr Mat Tchan and me - we all share a passion for teaching and learning and a desire for our students to enjoy English and develop their capacity. Although COVID is continuing to provide challenges, we are looking forward to a year of working together and witnessing students’ growth and development.

We thank families for their continuing support of the teaching and learning at Aranmore. As English teachers, we trust that reading is encouraged at home and perhaps on longer journeys to and from school (audio books can be useful here) and that a homework routine which includes students reviewing what they have learned each day is part of regular practice at home.

Please check SEQTA to see our Program and Assessment Outlines and should you have any questions, please contact your child’s English teacher or me.

Wishing you all the very best for 2022.

Mrs Donna Dennis
Head of Learnin Area – English
