Drama

Students are able to develop their dramatic skills through years nine to twelve at Aranmore Catholic College.

The activities in Drama classes provide students with an overview of various dramatic techniques and help to develop the students’ confidence and versatility.

Upper school students have the opportunity to review contemporary performances, usually as a part of the Perth International Art Festival. Last year’s excursions included Othello, Macbeth, The Crucible and Ngapartji Ngapartji.

The new Drama courses of study has commenced in 2008. This new course of study is designed to suit the individual students aims and needs for a future in Performance Art.

Each year the college presents a dramatic production to the community. In past years, school productions have included MacBeth, Romeo and Juliet and Away by Michael Gow. Last year’s play was The Jack Manning Trilogy; Face to Face by David Williamson which was performed in the intimate setting of Foley House. This year’s production, which will also involve the Music and Art and Design Departments, is Alice in Wonderland.

Student Achievements

Four of our students have excelled in their Drama studies and are currently members of the West Australian Youth Theatre Company. One student is also completing her structured workplace learning with Perth’s own Barking Gecko Theatre Company.
