Design and Technology
Students at Aranmore have the opportunity to experience a variety of disciplines in this learning area.
In Middle School Year Eight and Year Nine students study Design and Technology and the aims are:
- to provide students with the basic knowledge and practical skills to manipulate wood, metal and plastic
- to introduce students to the discipline of technical drawing
- to ensure our students have a safe, encouraging environment in which to learn and build on their knowledge and skills.
In Senior School we offer Year Ten Design and Technology and Year Eleven and Year Twelve Furniture Design and Technology
Our aims are:
- to ensure our teaching and assessment practises follow those stipulated by the Curriculum Council of Western Australia
- to encourage the development of self-motivated learning and problem solving
- to encourage students to take the initiative in the design and construction processes of furniture making
- to provide students with opportunities and materials to produce a variety of furniture
- to ensure our students have a safe encouraging environment in which to develop practical skills with wood, metal and plastics.
